How Much Skin Care is Too Much?
We all want healthy skin, and many of us already have a daily routine for taking care of our biggest organ. However, some of us may be overdoing it and causing more harm than good. The Effects of Using Too Many Skin Products
The purpose of using skin care products is to improve the quality of our skin, but like many things in life, using too many products or misusing them can lead to skin damage. Below are some of the effects of overuse of skin care products.
Tightness – Have you used facial cleansers or other skin care products that made your skin actually feel tighter? This is likely because your products are not pH balanced and are doing more harm than good.
Acne – A common problem associated with too much product use is acne. This can be caused due to the chemicals in your products causing an allergic reaction or clogging up your pores and causing pimples. Sleep helps our body to recharge and repair from the previous day. When you don’t get enough sleep, you can start to see the results in your skin, particularly from the dark bags and circles around your eyes. You may also find your skin to be paler, and that irritations may take longer to heal.
Bathe With Natural Products – We already mentioned that you should consider switching to natural soaps. Additionally, consider using natural shampoo and moisturizer for your hair and scalp. You should only use shampoo about two to three times a week and use moisturizer for the other times.
Natural shampoos and conditioners can help to prevent dryness, flakiness, and skin irritation of the head and scalp. Natural soaps also contain glycerin, which helps to retain moisture and natural oils in your skin. This means you will use less moisturizer if any at all.
Only Use Moisturizer as Needed – If you are using natural soaps, shampoos, and shaving products, then you may find less of a need to use a moisturizer. Some people automatically apply moisturizer as a preventative measure, and this may be doing more harm than good. If you find that moisturizer is necessary, then use a more natural moisturizer.
